MAA offers a number of field trips each year, and we participate in community events. We hope you'll join us for one of these wonderful opportunities to spend time with fellow artists and visit exciting art venues in and around DC and in other cities, too.

Sketch Night at AMP by Strathmore in North Bethesda
We were so excited to resume this activity, which we started in 2019. Members went together to the music club and sketched the performer Christie Dashiell. We then met Christie after the show so she could take a look at our work. She loved them so much that she made a video of them for her Instagram account!

Docent-led tour of the Giuseppe DeNittis exhibition at the Phillips Collection in Washington

Group visit to see Yayoi Kusama's exhibition at the Hirshhorn Museum in Washington
The museum reserved 30 spots for us at the often sold out exhibit. We toured together, then enjoyed coffee at the ground-floor cafe.

Group visit to the Glenstone Museum in Potomac, Md.
We always feel lucky to score tickets to the exclusive Glenstone Museum in Potomac. Together we toured the contemporary art museum and grounds in February 2020 and January 2022.

Tour of the Baltimore Museum of Art
Members escaped the summer heat and spent a few hours together on a private, docent-led tour of the Baltimore Museum of Art In August 2019.

Field Trip to the Brooklyn Museum in New York
In May 2019, 10 members and guests took a day trip to New York to see the popular Freda Kahlo special exhibition, tour the museum and visit other sights in New York City.

MAA Sketch & Jazz Night at AMP by Strathmore
In March 2019, nearly 30 MAA members, artists from the county and guests enjoyed drinks and appetizers while sketching jazz vocalist Rochelle Rice. We provided discounted tickets for members and guests.

Kozy Korner Konversations at the Kensington Park Library
MAA members talked with members of the community and local artists about their craft and bonded over shared interests in materials, techniques and other aspects of the artist's life during a networking event at the library in May 2019.
